======= SUNRISE INSIGHT ======= (From 11,604 feet on the top of a volcano) CHANGE IS DIFFICULT! Even in the face of death people have a hard time changing their lifestyle. Allan Deutschman talks about this in his amazing book CHANGE OR DIE He studied people who had open heart surgery and were told that they had to stop eating salt and had to exercise daily. With the lack of support 90% of people were dead or eating salt and sitting on the couch again 2 years later. BUT There was another group of people who were told the same thing but GOT SUPPORT an two years later 90% of then had not only sustained the change, but they no longer saw it as a change, they saw it as who they were. How did this work? THREE THINGS... REFRAME - They reframed their life and experience and chose not to eat salt and to move their ass. RELATE - They hung out with and associated with people who were going through the same change, monthly for support. REPEAT - They repeated the commitment every month at the meetings and reinforced the reframe everytime they were with another person going through the same process.
