SUNY-ESFs Roosevelt Wildlife Station, directed by Dr. James Gibbs, is a key center for #conservation of giant Galapagos tortoises, with ESF faculty and students engaged in ongoing efforts to protect and study the Galapagos Islands and their native wildlife. In Radiolabs latest, magnificently produced podcast feature on #Galapagos, Dr. Gibbs and his colleagues share stories about their work to conserve Galapagos #tortoise species, including restoring the legendary, and not quite as extinct as you thought, Pinta tortoise. Dr. Gibbs tale of the tortoises starts at the 25 minute mark. However, the full 1 hour podcast is well worth a listen.
