SUPER TURNOUT AT IPS NA SUMMER SHOW AT KNOCKAGH! The ever popular IPS NA Summer Show returned this year to the IPS NA Show Schedule on Saturday 24th May. Despite a last minute change to the venue due to the weather, the Summer Show went ahead at Knockaghview Equestrian Centre. This did not deter our competitors coming out to compete and with a full schedule of 78 classes, competitors were out in force. Most classes were well supported, however, the in hand classes were somewhat disappointing and it would be great to see more competitors attend these classes. The weather also held for the show and the final Supreme Championship of the day finished at about 4pm. There were a number of new faces at the show and some had travelled also from the south to enjoy the competition at the IPS NA Summer Show. The WH course was flowing with an array of uprights, spreads and doubles. Most competitors rode round the course successfully and competition was relatively stiff for the Supreme Championship. However, it was Rachel Moore and Fortview Toy Boy who took the overall Supreme WHP sash, having earlier won both the open 153cm and the Open WH Championship. Our Reserve Supreme Champion was Lisa Hockley and BallyG Comet who had earlier won the Connemara WHP Championship. It is always great to see our younger members tackle the WH course and there are a number of up and coming young riders who will be the stars of the future. Ellie McDonnell and Rowfantina Jammy Dodger won the Mini WH Championship with Sarah McPolin and Netherfield Mr Rochester taking the Reserve title. The mini ridden classes were very well supported and our young competitors were out in force with some young riders coming from afar to compete. The Supreme Mini Championship was won by Stephen Gibbons on Yrenfys Llwynog, with Megan Dumigan and Underhill Pipedream winning the Supreme Reserve title! Elaine Sherrard and her ever consistent Parkhill ponies had a very successful day, winning a number of in hand classes and championship rosettes. She, with Parkhill Van Persie, went on to win the overall Supreme In Hand Championship sash. Sarah Beers and Rhydgwillim Cuckatoo took the Reserve Supreme title, having also had a very good day in the in hand classes. The Supreme Ridden was the final class of the day and did not disappoint, with some excellent ponies and riders competing for the title. This was won by Wyndham Hot Gossip ridden by Holly McClenaghan and our Reserve was Jenny Lindsay and BallyG Ash. The IPS NA Committee would like to thank all those who helped make the show a success. Extreme thanks must go to all our judges, scribes, helpers and committee members who worked tirelessly on the day to ensure the show ran smoothly. The next IPS show will be the NA Annual Show on Saturday 5th July at 9am at Thornleigh House, Downpatrick Road, Ballynahinch. This show will be points and half for IPS members looking for points and will again form part of the IPSNA Silver League which is open to both members and non members. Awards for the Silver League are presented at the IPS NA Annual Awards Dinner in November. The show will also be a qualifier for the HSI Champion of Champions Youngstock Championship 2014 and the Goffs Country All Ireland Broodmare and Foal Championship 2014, both to be held at the annual IPS Championship Show in Cavan on 31st July and 1st/2nd August. We are also pleased to announce that this show will also be a qualifier for the BSPS Blue Riband classes including the WH Desert Orchid to be held at the BSPS Summer Champs at Arena UK in August.
