What Is Pleasing To God? May these words of my mouth and this meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer. - Psa 19:14 Every religion in the world is struggling to please God, each having their own definition of holiness and righteousness. But God is not pleased with any religion, be it Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Buddhism etc; for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God (Rom 3:23). • One may wonder, argue and ask, are you saying all that great sacrifices and worship recorded in the bible did not please God or are you saying that those who said they saw God and do what He commanded them are not pleasing to Him? And the answer is YES! Because God can use whoever He wants of His creatures to accomplish His will and purpose on earth. Those people we sometimes ignorantly honor/value because of their testimony or experience with God are not so in the sight of God (Read Lk 16:15); And for no one is holy like the LORD, For there is none besides Him, Nor is there any rock/leader like our God. (1Sam 2:2) • To quench our curiosity about what Im saying, let me in the words of a man sent from God prove to us that all those great religious leaders and people with all their visions and revelation did not see God as they claimed. John the Baptist said, No one has seen God at any time. The only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, He has declared Him. (John 1:18 NKJV) > John introduced Jesus to the Jews saying, Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world! (John 1:29 NKJV) • Now some may say to me, theres no prove of that. What about those who dont believe in Jesus? Apart from the infallible proofs recorded in the bible, the former account of all that Jesus began both to do and teach, until the day in which He was taken up, after He through the Holy Spirit had given commandments to the apostles whom He had chosen, to whom He also presented Himself alive after His suffering by many infallible proofs, being seen by them during forty days and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God. (Acts 1:1-3 NKJV) > Apart from all that scriptural infallible proofs, my very humble life is a living testimony that no one has seen God at any time. The only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, He has declared Him to us who believes. • Yes, He came to me when no one was there to save me. He saved me from sin and death. When everyone had written me off as useless, God through Jesus reached out, saved, called, chose and using me to make all men see what He has done for us: That “if you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes; knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law but by faith in Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, that we might be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law; for by the works of the law no flesh shall be justified; that without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him (Mk 9:23. Gal 2:16. Heb 11:6). • Therefore, by the reason of His Anointing upon me, I want you to know that, although the words of your mouth and the meditation of your heart may not be pleasing in Gods sight, but you have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the Righteous; Who died, and furthermore is also risen, Who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us (1Jn 2:1. Rom 8:34). • Friends, God is only pleased in Jesus His Son and with all things which He commanded us to observe. When Moses representing the law and Elijah representing the prophets appeared with Jesus on the mount of transfiguration. Peter, as many are still doing today, wanted to build the tabernacles of the law, prophets and grace. But while Peter was still speaking, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them; and suddenly a voice came out of the cloud, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Hear Him!” (Matthew 17:5 NKJV) > With your faith in Christ, God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all the words of your mouth and the meditations of your heart, according to the power that works in us (Eph 3:20). • All that matters today to God is faith in His Son Jesus Christ, whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously committed, to demonstrate at the present time His righteousness, that He might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus. (Romans 3:25-26 NKJV) • When you know what God has done for us by sending His Son, Who was delivered up because of our offenses, and was raised because of our justification (Rom 4:25); + Then you wont let anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ. + Then you will let no one judge you in food or in drink, or regarding a festival or a new moon or sabbaths or tithes and offerings, which are a shadow of things to come, but the substance is of Christ. + Then you will let no one cheat you of your reward of faith, taking delight in false humility and worship of or praying to angels, intruding into those things which he has not seen [Jesus and early church did], vainly puffed up by his fleshly/carnal/religious mind, and not holding fast to the Head[Jesus Christ], from whom all the body, nourished and knit together by joints and ligaments, grows with the increase that is from God (Read Col 2:6-19). • Finally, what is pleasing to God today is faith in JESUS Christ; that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life (Jn 3:16. Lk 18:8). + May you believe Jesus, and abide in His word, as His disciple indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free from every bondage in Jesus Name! Amen! (Jn 8:31-32)
