SUPERNATURAL OR SUPERFICIAL: We live in an era of hyper-sensitivity to the superficial temporal things of this physical realm. Priority has a lot to do with the outcome of our lives. As humans we have certain responsibilities according to the position we find ourselves. There are family dynamics, with relational responsibilities, there are work place responsibilities, there are societal responsibilities, and a personal responsibility to be a lawful citizen. However in the face of eternity we are called out of the darkness of sin’s alienation into the marvelous light of the reborn experience and the supernatural dynamics of living in the Spirit. “ For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God “. Romans 8:14 KJV As a child of God we are responsible to be sensitive to the Spirit of God. Today in the contemporary teaching and preaching of many there is no sense of a wholesome fear of God which is the root to a true and lasting righteousness founded upon understanding, knowledge, and wisdom that is generated by it. “ The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endures for ever”. Psalms 111:10 KJV Supernatural wisdom preceded natural wisdom, because the spiritual realm existed before the natural and corporeal realm. A whole hearted fear of God opens our hearts, minds, and spiritual eyes to see and receive instruction for living in the spiritual or supernatural realm and to demonstrate the reality of our God to those who do not know him. (9) Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be yet wiser: teach a just man, and he will increase in learning. (10) The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding. (11) For by me thy days shall be multiplied, and the years of thy life shall be increased. Proverbs 9:9-11 KJV It is my own heart’s desire to be wise in the wisdom of the Spirit of the Living God, therefore I do fear him first and foremost in my life, for his word to the new testament believer is “ do not fear those who can kill the body and can do no more; but fear Him who can not only kill the body but afterward cast the soul into hell”. So many today have a façade of spirituality but a heart of carnality, because they truly don’t fear the Lord or love the things of God above the things of the world. Jesus emphasized the importance of putting God’s Kingdom & Righteousness before the temporary, relationships, necessities, and blessings of this world. “ But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you“. Matthew 6:33 KJV When one is half-hearted concerning a relationship of any kind that relationship is usually doomed because that one is not truly dedicated to the person or persons involved in the relationship. When we as a people who’ve been born again are half-hearted about our relationship with God, our relationship is destined to be superficial and we cannot truly expect the supernatural to be a force in out lives. A half-heart equals a dead relationship, when the word of God clearly teaches us to serve God in the newness of the Spirit; not in the oldness of the letter. What do I mean by that statement, it’s simple! A façade is an artificial or superficial appearance or effect that masks the reality of a building or in this instance a person’s heart. Dead letter is keeping up the appearances like the Pharisees’ hypocrisy in the time when Jesus taught these Kingdom Principles. Many praise God with their lips, but their hearts are far from God, this is why they live in the realm of the superficial and artificial spirituality and miss out on the miraculous of the supernatural. If God is not first in one’s life, then he has become last in that ones life, whether they realize it or not. Brethren Keep the Faith today by receiving instruction, the instruction to put God first, keep the faith today by examining yourself to see where your faith truly stands, is it in the wisdom of the world or in the wisdom of the Word?
