SURFERS PARADISE REOPENED AFTER EARLIER REPORTS OF GUNSHOTS | Specialist police have since reopened Surfers Paradise following earlier reports of shots fired in the vicinity of Hanlan Street. Police have confirmed they are not searching for an alleged gunman after searching a building in Hanlan Street, believed to be the Kinkabool, and failing to locate any evidence of gunshots to coincide with reports. It is understood SERT officers locked down parts of Surfers Paradise as a precaution as they conducted a search of the area. The "lockdown" has since been revoked and residents are safe to return home. "Police have investigated a reported incident at a unit block in Surfers Paradise this afternoon and have found no evidence of gunshots. Furthermore, police are not searching for an alleged gunman," a police spokesperson said. "Residents in Surfers Paradise and the surrounding area are advised that it is safe to go about their business." - Jaydan
