SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT: 800 BLK 1ST STREET - 04/30/14 I apologize for the delay in getting this information out. Due to other obligations, I just read the report on this incident this afternoon. On Wed 04/30/14, officers from the City of Kiel Police Department responded to a citizen’s call at just after midnight in the 800 Blk of 1st street about some suspicious activity. The caller reported that when she went out to her vehicle she saw a man inside a vehicle parked next door at her neighbor’s house. The man quietly exited the vehicle and ran off on foot behind the residence. The caller also reported a 2nd man who was said to be across the street from the vehicle that was entered. That man also ran off soon after the first did. The first man was described a white male, late teens-early 20’s, thin build, approx. 6 feet tall wearing dark clothing. The 2nd man was described as a white male, 6 feet tall, medium build wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, jeans, and white shoes It is believed the men were looking for items to steal in the vehicle but nothing was reported missing/stolen by the vehicle owner. Officers patrolled the area and did not locate anyone in the area and we have not had any further incidents of this type. If you have any information about this incident, please contact our Police Department. Thefts from vehicles is always a big problem for area communities including here in the City of Kiel. Please remember to make your home and vehicles a “hard target” by removing valuables from your vehicles, by locking the doors, and please do not leave the keys inside your car. Also, as this citizen did; report suspicious people/vehicles immediately to our Police Department. Thank you. Dave Funkhouser, Chief
