SWAT (Grand Prairie) Info from Grand Prairie Police: Yesterday (01/21/14) at approximately 6:30pm, Officers responded to a disturbance in the 5700 block of Appalossa Drive. It was reported that the suspect, Julian Ripple W/M 06-18-1991, arrived at his girlfriend’s family home where he stole a firearm. During the commission of the theft, the suspect fired the gun into the air and fled the scene. Officers were unable to locate the suspect. Today at approximately 4:00am, Officers responded to the 1800 block of Family Circle on a disturbance involving the suspect and his family. During the disturbance, the suspect displayed a firearm and assaulted a family member. Fearing for their safety, the family fled the home and called 911. Officers responded to the scene and attempted to contact the suspect at the home. Once the initial contact failed, a SWAT callout was initiated due to the suspect barricading himself in the house with a firearm. Grand Prairie SWAT responded and deployed a “throw phone” into the house. Contact was made with the suspect who refused to surrender. After hours of failed negotiations, SWAT officers entered the home and took the suspect into custody.
