SWEET SPIRIT: SHE’S A NEW DOG IN JUST SIX WEEKS Here is the update we promised you back in November on Spirit – the before and after photos so many people have been waiting for. To recap for those people who have recently joined our facebook page – Spirit was found on 28th November by BAWA director Janice Girardi and I on our way in to Ubud one morning. Spirit was in a shocking condition when we found her as you will see from the photo, but we knew that with intensive treatment and lots of loving care this sweet natured little dog could be transformed And her she is – just look at her now - she’s beautiful! I used to visit her whenever I could and she looked forward to my visits as I was always laden with food, chicken broth, milk and treats and she would show her appreciation with gentle kisses and wags of her tail. Her progress since I left Bali on 26th December has been phenomenal - her hair was just starting to grow when I left and in two weeks she is looking amazing! Spirit now needs a loving home with someone who will give her the best home ever – she has fought a long and courageous battle, not only with her skin condition and malnutrition but a terrible eye infection and kennel cough but her will to live pulled her through. When I received the after photos of her this week I openly admit I cried, tears of joy that she was healed and so beautiful. Janice and I both saw something in her the day we picked her up – we looked past her terrible condition and saw her inner beauty which shone through as we drove to Ubud. By the time we met up with the vets the name Spirit had been bestowed on her – we felt it was a fitting name for a little girl who had a strong spirit and a will to survive. Sadly Spirit was probably dumped, helpless and far from home, just for being sick. Heartfelt thanks goes to everyone who donated to help with Spirit’s recovery. Thank you also to a wonderful supporter who took time out of her busy holiday schedule to drive to Ubud to visit her after I returned to Australia – your video of her was uplifting to see.
