Strange the things that flood you with memories. Saturday my Uncle - TopicsExpress

Strange the things that flood you with memories. Saturday my Uncle and I had a sale to clear out my Grandmothers apartment since the lease will expire on the first of the month. For hours I watched things that belonged to her being bought and carried away by strangers and I was okay. At the end, when we were ready to pack up what little was left to donate was when I lost it. It was her books. My Grandmother was a voracious reader, but she only truly loved a handful of authors, of which one was Nora Roberts. For many years everyone in the family would buy her gift certificates to book stores for the holidays and my Uncle would take her shopping after Christmas and she would stock up on books. Afterward, I was given the cards that had credit left on them since I was around book stores more often. So many times I would be at the mall and go to the bookstore and call her up, and we would go back and forth about which books she had and which she didnt. Its one of those things that seems so common, but means so much to me because it was something she did only with me. So as I stacked all of those books into a bin, I cried. All of those pages and stories that she and I had both read, and would talk about in detail. Jacquie Burke Lieber, Uncle Carl took her signed Nora Roberts book to keep. I have the one you got for Mom.
