SYNOPSIS: Happy Wednesday! Heres a look at the weather synopsis... ASIA: Northern Japan, along with the Sea of Japan coast, are seeing high snow totals, with some areas totally snow depth between 100-150 cm. The low pressure system responsible for the blizzard conditions in Hokkaido, along with the snowy mess as far west as the Chigoku region will last through Thursday. Expect gusty conditions and high waves because of the intensity of the low pressure system. Improvement will slowly return heading toward the weekend. Meanwhile, portions of South Korea are also seeing some heavy snow popping up from time to time. Be prepared for these conditions to eventually improve during the day Thursday. OCEANIA: Instability continues to contribute to daytime afternoon thunderstorms along the northern portions of Australia. The storms are concentrated from the northern coast of the Northern Territory, slicing through the center of the region into Queensland and extending into the Gold Coast. The coast of New South Wales is also seeing some storms. As we continue to go through summer, expect this pattern to continue. Meanwhile, rain is spreading deep into the southern portions of New Zealand, so most of the country is seeing rainfall. The precipitation will last through the next couple of days as a system produces plenty of wet weather. EUROPE: Were going to see rain affecting the Scandinavian Peninsula, Ireland and the British Isles, along with western Europe. The Iberian Peninsula will stay relatively dry with sunny skies. Snowfall, especially heavy amounts, along with windy conditions are possible into parts of Norway and Sweden. Another low pressure system departing from the Italian Peninsula will produce rain and storms for the coast of the Balkan Peninsula going throughout Wednesday. Gusts are also expected in this area as well. NORTH AMERICA: A low pressure system is moving across the Great Lakes and into New England, bringing rain, snow, and freezing rain along the eastern US-Canada border. Some places may see up to 15 cm of snowfall. Meanwhile, the rain is slowly letting up along the US West Coast, but rain is still expected for northern California into the coastal corner of British Columbia, along with snowfall in the Sierras once again. Some instability is providing rain for the Southern Plains, with the rain spreading eastward through the week into the Deep South. Hope you have a good day wherever you are!
