SYNOPSIS: Heres whats happening in the weather today... ASIA: Japan is under influence of a low pressure system thats lowering temperatures across the country. The front is expected to lift during Tuesday, so gradual clearing will take place moving into Wednesday. Another low is developing in eastern China, and that is going to produce heavy rainfall along the Yangzi River basin during the next couple of days. Southern China will still see some rainfall as well as the persistent rainy season setup continues. OCEANIA: A low pressure system in the southeastern corner of Australia has been producing rain and storms. The system should develop further as it moves over water, so by mid-week, New Zealand will be dealing with this system. Most of the rain will be concentrated on North Island, while South Island remains relatively dry. A front will cross into southwestern Australia by the middle of this week. EUROPE: A low down in the southern portion of the continent is producing rainfall for those in Italy and central Europe. Some severe weather, including hail and a tornado, were reported in Austria. The rain will expand eastward into eastern Europe for Monday and Tuesday. Meanwhile, drier weather will produce sunny skies for the British Isles and western Europe. Spain may see highs in the mid to upper-30s (C). N. AMERICA: Labor Day will be a rocky one for those in the US mid-West and Central Plains. A shortwave along with a low pressure system has a history of producing hail and damaging winds. There is a small risk of an isolated tornado for the Central Plains, but the greatest concern will be hail and to a lesser extent damaging winds. The eastern half of the United States will likely see dry weather with a risk of scattered to isolated storms, while the western US will see decent weather for Labor Day. Hope you have a good day wherever you are!
