Sabbath School Summary Lesson 3 Enduring Temptation Memory Text:1: 12 SATURDAY: Temptation normally comes on us just at the time we purpose not to sin again. Then we begin to wonder if well be saved at all. We become powerless and hopeless in our situation, but with God, we can endure all temptations. God, our Father is greater than the evil that traps us. Although the temptations and the battles we face are real, God is real too and through Him, we can be victorious over temptations. SUNDAY: Sinning is our own choice. Our desires and thoughts persuades us into sinning. Our sinful nature in itself is not a sin, when it dictates our choices and controls our thoughts, then it becomes a sin. Evil itself is the originator of temptations. God, not the author of sin and temptation assurers us victory over sin and temptations when we cling to Him. MONDAY: Sin begins by losing trust in God. The one-third angelic hosts and Eve were lured into sin because they adopted the suggestions of Satan instead of that of God. Since sin begins in the mind, by having the mind of Jesus, we can resist Satan as Jesus did when He was tempted. Sin is cancerous, it consumes its host and takes over its body. With prayers and living faith, we can resist the suggestions from Satan and obey the voice of God. TUESDAY: Although sin gives birth to death, God gives us birth to new life, which is the greatest gift we can ever have. The plan of redemption was not an after thought, but existed before creation that we might have new life in Christ. The gap sin created between man and God was so big that no human could reconnect us to God, but Gods word in human form, Jesus Christ. Our Father of lights gives us good and perfect gifts from above although we do not merit them. WEDNESDAY: As images of God, the words we speak are also powerful as the words of God. Our words, once uttered cannot be taken back. We are therefore urge to be careful about what we say. Problems begins to rise when we fail to listen to God and to ourselves. Arguments arise from our talkings and anger follows and causes us to do the unrighteous. We therefore have to be slow to speak. THURSDAY: We are saved only by receiving the the clean white robe Jesus gives us. Nobody puts clean clothes over dirty ones, likewise we have to put away our dirty clothes and wear the robe of righteousness God gives us. This doesnt mean that we must be without sin before we can be clothed in Christs righteousness, but means we have to surrender to Him, choosing to die daily in our old sinful ways. FRIDAY: Christ always separate the sorrowful soul from Sin. His mission on earth was to destroy sin and give us the Holy Spirit to keep us from sinning. By helping others, we reflect the life of Christ. -Ellen G. White, Repentance, Steps to Christ, pp. 23-36. Christs Object Lessons, pp. 67, 68.
