Sabi ng mga students during election sa UP, Wag nyong pakialaman ang choice ko ng candidates. Its my freedom to exercise my political right to choose the candidate I want! Walang basagan ng trip. Well, my dear, student, you shoulld read Jean Paul Sartre: I can take my freedom as a goal only if I take the freedom of others as a goal as well. Or, based on Simon de Beauvoirs correction of Sartre: I can only will my own freedom by willing the freedom of all. Which means: YOU CANT JUST CHOOSE A CANDIDATE BECAUSE YOU ARE FREE TO DO SO! Tanga! You have to ask: By electing this candidate, am I willing the freedom of all students to have free education? To free students from commercialization of higher education? If students dont ask these hard questions, then, they are not really free! They are only free for themselves. And the election is just popularity contest.
