Sad News: New York City Opera (NYCO) will file a bankruptcy this week and draw the final curtain to its near-70-year-long history as the “People’s Opera”, the more down-to-earth and accessible alternative to the lofty (and, well, “exorbitant”) Metropolitan Opera. The US premier of “Anna Nicole,” which closed on last Saturday, September 28th at the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM), will be (almost certainly) their Swan Song. Koch Theater), right next to the Metropolitan Opera House.
