Sad day in the Hampton Roads (Virginia) area, as a Police Officer, Brian Jones, killed in the line of duty on May 31st, was laid to rest. I remember many years ago, when I first began working as a Juvenile Probation Officer (back in the 1980s) in Chesapeake, Virginia, an officer was killed in the line of duty. I attended that funeral. What has stuck with me for all these years is the fact (and those from the Hampton Roads area will understand) that the last car pulled out of the parking lot at the Holloman Brown Funeral Home on Cedar Road in Chesapeake, as the first car was pulling in to Forest Lawn Cemetery in Norfolk, Virginia. So many people came to pay their respects and the funeral procession was probably 30+ miles long. RIP Officer Jones. You served your City with dignity and honor!
