Some important info: (1) In a recent TV report, Florida School Boards Association leader, Wayne Blanton, said he was speaking with Lee board members. He has NOT contacted me as Chairman, so I wonder who he means? IMO, this group is essentially controlled by Tallahassee. Deferring to them is far from Local Control, as stipulated in the Florida Constitution. (2) We have a unique opportunity this year to make positive changes with minimal disruption to students. Go to the FADSS website under Food for thought to see the Gates Foundation quote on testing and results. Thankfully, there is a time out in place, aka big window of opportunity. (3) Comments by state officials claiming the district should reduce its own internal number of tests first are misleading. This was done two years ago. (4) Improving methods of assessment can be done at a far lesser cost than the district incurs now, but Dr. Graham neglects to mention this in her latest interview. There are effective prototypes we can use. (5) The spin machine is in full gear. Stay strong.
