Jammin With J-Bird presents Still Waters in a Storm - Part 1 On Dec. 7, 2014, I had the distinct honor of chaperoning a unique group of elementary age music students for a private audience experience, to watch and meet with NYCs #1 Contemporary Orchestra Conductor, Jeff milarsky, for the final rehearsal of The Columbia University Orchestra 2014 Fall Concert. The Columbia University Orchestra, here in NYC, is the oldest continually operating university orchestra in the United States. The young music students I was chaperoning attend Still Waters in a Storm, a music and literacy program for at-risk children in the Bushwick neighborhood of Brooklyn. I immediately fell in love with the schools program and mission....with its Music Teacher Concetta Abbate and schools Founder/Director Stephen Haff.....but most of all, I fell in love with the children. That being said, I just had to bring the wonderful story of Still Waters in a Storm to the world! I am happy to bring you...Part 1 of a 2-Part series.
