Sail to Paros - STOP 1 We had only 4 hours stop on the island. I did not want to waste any minute hence hired a quad for touring around. It only cost 20 Euros including petrol for 4 hours. Never driven a quad, my god, very sensitive mechanics, you have to be very careful when turning or braking as any sudden move could turn you upside down. I have seen a lot within a short period of time. Paros is a Greek island in the central Aegean Sea. One of the Cyclades island group. It lies approximately 100 mi (161 kilometres) south-east of Piraeus. Historically, Paros was known for its fine white marble. Today, abandoned marble quarries and mines can be found on the island, but Paros is primarily known as a popular tourist spot. The capital, Parikia, situated on a bay on the north-west side of the island, Parikía harbour is a major hub for Aegean islands ferries and catamarans, with several sailings each day for Piraeus, the port of Athens, Heraklion, the capital of Crete, and other islands such as Naxos, Ios, Santorini, and Mykonos. In Parikia town, houses are built and decorated in the traditional Cycladic style, with flat roofs, whitewash walls and blue-painted doors and window frames and shutters. Shadowed by luxuriant vines, and surrounded by gardens of oranges and pomegranates, I have made a circle calling at Livadia, Naoussa and Lefkes I love Lefkes. Lefkes is an inland mountain village 10 km (6 mi) away from Parikia. It is a picturesque village with narrow streets. A visitor could walk and enjoy the carefully whitewashed houses and streets with beautiful and colorful flowers. I had a quick coffee break here. The time we were there was right in the middle the shoulder season so in general no tourist in sight that was a true delight. Plus the fact is that Greece was in economical turmoil so any tourist expenditure was welcome. I experienced very attentive services throughout. Great place to visit. Loved it so much.
