Sailing Report Thursday 4th December 2014 A sunny and somewhat windy day, and its the Christmas Party for the Thursday sailors. All dinghies were rigged, with 11 tied off at the pontoon ready to go. The ladies were getting the party food ready, while other volunteers busily decorated. During morning brief, we welcomed Jims grandson Henry for the day. The bay was quite lumpy, with 4-6knot wind blowing a NNE, by the end of the day the wind peaked at 16.5knots. By 10:30, all the dinghies were on the water for our 62 sailors. Some prep work was started on Faith as she is getting ready for refurbishment in early January, Jim was busy heating and peeling stickers off the hull with the help from his grandson Henry. Also crew for Faith didnt escape heating and peeling duties. Thank you guys, what a difference. At 11:00 Santa arrived by safety boat to the pontoon, and who should be waiting for him, Mrs Claus. They made their way up the ramp to the sailors ready to receive their gifts. Some sailors had to come back early from sailing, just so they didnt miss out on seeing Santa, then went out again, so they didnt miss out on sailing. Lots of excitement during Santa time. Thanks Santa what a wonderful job you did, making everyone smile. And you had help from Rudolf, thanks Janelle. What a great week, thanks everyone for pitching in and making the Christmas week a fantastic time. Thank you for your time, dedication and hard work you give to Sailability. This year the Christmas gift was a DVD, featuring many of our sailors sailing at Sailabilty Bayside, hope you enjoyed it. It will be posted to this facebook page in a few weeks. Today when it was all said and done, many of us went onto The Trailer Boat Club for a debrief. Merry Christmas everyone, we still have one more week of sailing, our last sailing day is Thursday the 11th December, provided the weather is good. See you next week. Also put in your diaries, January 20th is the first day to register for next year.
