Sailors, The first (Should be second!) Green Flash race of the summer will be this coming Thursday evening. We want very much to encourage everyone to come out, especially families and couples, so the rules have been modified to give any double or single handed boat a credit of 5 s/nm, so such a boat can start 25 seconds before her regular time. Small children are not to be included in the crew count. Also, autopilots can be used at any time without penalty. We will race a fixed 5 nm equilateral triangular course, starting near the South Jetty, at 6 PM every Thursday evening from June 13th through September 26 (except on July 4th!). The races will be pursuit style, where the higher rated boats start first, with each boat being assigned a start time according to her rating, that will (hopefully) get all the boats to the finish line at the same time! That’s never really happened, but some times the finishes between several boats are quite close.
