Saint Louis Lantern, Obituaries: Lieutenant Wallace Wally Hayden Purvis of His Britannic Majestys Royal Navy and Companion of the Order of the Bath April 13th PÆ 67 - August 14th PÆ 84 was torn from this world upon the 14th of August in the year of our Lord, PÆ 84. Cut down by an overwhelmingly powerful Ottoman force while combating the evil that dwelt within Eisenbergs hellish depths, the gallant youth fought bravely in the name of God, King, Country, Comrades & His Steadfast Convictions. He leaves behind his bereaved mother, Adeline Leigh Purvis of Gatehouse, New London, formerly of Crossroads, New Manchester, his mistress Bounces Jameson, his adopted family, the Cochranes, and a plethora of devoted friends who wish him eternal peace in the world hereafter. Sunset and evening star, And one clear call for me! And may there be no moaning of the bar, When I put out to sea, But such a tide as moving seems asleep, too full for sound and foam, When that which drew from out the boundless deep.. turns again home. Twilight and evening bell, And after that the dark! And may there be no sadness of farewell, when I embark; For tho from out our bourne of Time and Place, The flood may bear me far, I hope to see my Pilot face to face.. when I have crost the bar. ~ Lord Tennyson (Thank you Christopher A. Sørensen, who wrote this. Im just the editor.)
