Salaam Alaikum, Ya Ali Madad, It is with great regret we find ourselves having to write another status regarding the actions of the IJEC. After yet another eventful Ashura, we find ourselves in the same place asking questions of the EC. First things first, Zanjeer did happen and Inshallah it will continue to happen in Idara-e-Jaaferiya until the end of time. However the aftermath of the whole event has left us again questioning the consistency of the Committee. The act of Zanjeer Zani and Qama Zani took place last year inside Idara and this year inside Idara so surely there should be no differences in how the issue is dealt with by the IJEC (if that is, there hand is forced by the public liability insurance as supposedly was last year.) Now last year after Zanjeer Zani took place, the IJEC claimed the Idara needed to be evacuated and closed as the insurance was cancelled, why was it not closed for 32 days this year like last time? Does this not prove that their actions last year were lies? Were they afraid this year that the community will unite again like they did last year during the Majalises which took place outside the locked doors of Idara? Another inconsistency by the IJEC is last year after Zanjeer took place, the Main Hall in Idara was closed as it was contaminated, this year the hall remained open directly after Zanjeer took place. Not only did it remain open, food was also served and consumed in the hall and Namaaz also took place on the same floor that Zanjeer took place. Was the hall not contaminated this year? For all their faults, which there are many, one positive is the formation of the Jaaferiya Youth (which i understand was not even their idea however due to the lack of confirmation, I will credit them with this, for now.) who did a great job, especially with traffic flow and parking. However, I myself did witness a small altercation between a member of Jaaferiya youth and a member of the Idara with the Jaaferiya youth using threatening behaviour and language with phrases like meet me outside, although it seemed to die down with both parties involved shaking hands and going their separate ways. This raised the questions, will the boy from Jaaferiya youth be taken to court for disrupting the peace or have his membership revoked? In fact the person heading security on the day was a witness to this. Had it been the other way round would the reaction from him have been the same? It would not surprise me to see the boy representing Jaaferiya youth at the next event. IJEC you have failed in your role as a committee. You have not shown any of the qualities required to lead a community. You have not shown one bit of consistency and by doing so have proved that you are not cut out for the job. You have banned over 100 members who you know would have voted against you thus winning the elections in an unjust and unfair way. You have lost the faith of the community, do the honourable thing and step down now. Rather than hiding behind silly excuses such as Insurance and Police, it would be much easier if you openly said you have a direct issue with Zanjeer Zani and Qama Zani. At least the community would see that you have honesty within you (as well as hatred) however you have proved yourselves to be liars. My question to the members on the fence, How much more do they have to do to convince you they are not fit to run a Mosque? Please open your eyes.
