Commentary ~ The Cow and the Island ___________________________________________________________ In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful. 9. Verily, this Qurân guides to that which is most just and right and gives glad tidings to the believers (in the Oneness of Allâh and His Messenger, Muhammad , etc.). who work deeds of righteousness, that they shall have a great reward (Paradise). 10. And that those who believe not in the Hereafter (i.e. they disbelieve that they will be recompensed for what they did in this world, good or bad, etc.), for them We have prepared a painful torment (Hell). 11. And man invokes (Allâh) for evil as he invokes (Allâh) for good and man is ever hasty [i.e., if he is angry with somebody, he invokes (saying): O Allâh! Curse him, etc. and that one should not do, but one should be patient]. 12. And We have appointed the night and the day as two Ayât (signs etc.). Then, We have made dark the sign of the night while We have made the sign of day illuminating, that you may seek bounty from your Lord, and that you may know the number of the years and the reckoning. And We have explained everything (in detail) with full explanation. 13. And We have fastened every mans deeds to his neck, and on the Day of Resurrection, We shall bring out for him a book which he will find wide open. 14. (It will be said to him): Read your book. You yourself are sufficient as a reckoner against you this Day. 15. Whoever goes right, then he goes right only for the benefit of his ownself. And whoever goes astray, then he goes astray to his own loss. No one laden with burdens can bear anothers burden. And We never punish until We have sent a Messenger (to give warning). Sura 17. Al-Isra (The Journey by Night) ___________________________________________________________ In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful. Hadith ~ When will the Last Day be? Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: Once the Prophet (SAWS) was speaking to us when, a bedouin came and asked him: When will the Last Day be? The Messenger of Allah (SAWS) continued his talk. Some of those present thought that he had heard him but disliked the interruption and the other said that he had not heard him. When the Messenger of Allah (SAWS) concluded his speech he asked, Where is the one who inquired about the Last Day? The man replied: Here I am. The Messenger of Allah (SAWS) replied, When the practice of honouring a trust is lost, expect the Last Day. He asked: How could it be lost? He replied, When the government is entrusted to the undeserving people, then wait for the Last Day. (Al-Bukhari) Commentary: Here a very important sign of the nearness of the Day of Judgement has been mentioned: The affairs of the world will be in the hands of wicked and undeserving people. The sinners and wicked people will become the leaders of the world. The preaching pulpits would also be occupied by people who would be greedy and ignorant. They will be devoid of piety and abstinence. SAWS: May Allah exalt his mention and protect him from imperfection Riyaadiss-Saliheen (The Meadows of the Righteous) By Imam An Nawawi Chapiter 370, Page 532, No 1837 ___________________________________________________________ In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful. Commentary ~ The Cow and the Island On a green island, a cow lived in solitude. She grazed until nightfall and thus fattened up every day. At night, no longer seeing the grass, she worried about what she was going to eat the next day and this worry made her as thin as a feather. At dawn, the prairie became green with the sunlight and the cow started grazing again with a bovine appetite until sunset. The cow once again had became fat and full of strength. At nightfall, not seeing the prairie, she began to cry and lose weight once again. Time would pass but it never occurred to the cows mind that the prairie was not decreasing and that there was little reason to worry in this manner. Your ego is like the cow and the island is the universe. The fear of tomorrow makes the cow lean. Do not worry for the future. Better to look at the present. You have been eating for years and the gifts and provisions from Allah have nevertheless never diminished. ___________________________________________________________ Ayaat from the Quran, Hadith and Islamic Commentary Cancel / Receive Newsletter - salaattime
