Salaat ul Taraweeh: Preferable to do with the jama3ah but NOT an obligation -with or without the jama3ah-. Try and complete each taraweeh prayer with the Imaam/conjugation. The taraweeh can be prayed in different ways and ALL is OK: A) 11 Rakaas(units of prayer) based upon the action Of the prophet ASW (Aishia RA Sahih Bukhari) and the action of the companions beneath Omar RA in the first era (muwatta Imaam Malik). b) 23 rikats based upon the second era of Omar bin ul khataab (yaziid bin marwaan/Imaam Malik Muwatta [when the recitation amount per rikat shortened]) C) 21 Raka3aat based upon the "witer" with one rika (Imaam malik Muwatta) D) 36 raka3aat (time of Umar bin Abdul Aziz...... E)ETC! ******* Why the different numbers? The taraweeh prayer is an open ended # approach and is not limited to 11 rakaat-- when the prophet asw was asked by an unlearned man "how to pray the night prayer"? he said "two two" until one fears the dawn, then finish it with the "witer" [AbduAllah bin umar/Sahih Bukhari).
