Salinas Valley Memorial Healthcare System Honors Nurse and Employee of the Year! Employees at SVMHS selected Marie Marbach, RN as 2014 Nurse of the Year. Marie is a Staff Nurse III in Medical/Surgical/Cardiovascular (MSCV) at SVMHS. The SVMHS 2014 Employee of the Year is Mike Jago. Mike is the Hospital’s Chief Biomedical Engineer. Maries peers describe her as nurturing and welcoming and consider her to be a tremendous resource for patients, staff and nursing students who complete their clinical training at Salinas Valley Memorial. Mikes colleagues describe him as an exemplary role model not only for his team, but also by people in the many hospital departments he serves. He inspires others with his “can do” attitude and confidently takes on challenges big and small. Marie joined the healthcare system in April 2000 and has enthusiastically served in many collaborative and leadership roles, including as past chair of the SVMH nurse practice council and current chair of the MSCV practice council. Marie earned her RN form Hartnell College in 2002. Mike joined Salinas Valley Memorial in November 1996 and was promoted to his current position in February 2011. His colleagues describe Mike as an exemplary role model not only for his team, but also by people in the many hospital departments he serves. Mike leads his team in overseeing the advanced medical technologies throughout the healthcare system. National Nurses Week and Hospital Week festivities conclude Friday, May 16th with the return of the SVMHS Farmers’ Market. The Farmers’ Market launched last year and became an employee favorite. Local produce venders offer fresh fruits and vegetables at the corner of Wilgart Way and E. Romie Lane in Salinas every Friday from 2pm to 6pm. The certified organic Farmers’ Market is designed to promote the importance of eating healthy and is open to the public.
