Salinas Valley State Prison Warden Randy Grounds has overseen a significant reduction in incidents at his prison, from more than 1,200 in 2012 to 720 this year. The reason for that? An increase in rehabilitation programs, according to Warden Grounds. Those programs include substance-abuse recovery groups, anger management and volunteer faith-based programs that reduce violence and keep prisoners on the right track to rehabilitation.
