Sally Doesnt Mind. The highest of all known animal intellect does not exceed the level of a human four year old . . . Some chimps have been taught rudimentary sign language, and have had basic conversations with humans, they tell us how they feel, what they like, and dont, but in all these conversations, one thing has never occurred; no chimp has ever asked a human a question, this is not because they are not curious, curiosity is a fundamental motivation behind play, and invention, and chimps do both, the reason that theyve never asked us a question is because their intellect is lower than that of a four year old child . . . At around four years old a human child becomes aware that different people have different thoughts, lack of awareness of this can be known as mind blindness and is seen in some people on the autistic spectrum (check out the Sally Anne test m.youtube/watch?v=QjkTQtggLH4) . . . So, all animals are technically mind blind, and as such, it can be imagined than when they look into your eyes, they assume their own thoughts processing behind them . . . When we look into their eyes, we can likewise imagine our thoughts processing behind theirs, giving us the feeling of empathy but, most likely, all we, and they, are seeing, is our/their own feelings and/or emotions being reflected back, the eyes Are the mirror to the soul, just not necessarily the soul behind them . . . It can be imagined that an individual human would encounter resistance in their attempt to influence the feelings/emotions of an individual animal to be more like their own, or vice versa, because that animal already assumes that its feelings are they same as the humans in question . . . Influence is far more fluid between humans, because each individual involved is aware of the existence of differences between each pair . . . In the attempt to understand these differences, mutual change occurs and empathy grows more dynamic, in this way, diversity opens the door to understanding and cooperation, and fluidises influence, which hastens the evolution of consciousness :)
