Salute to my friend Bob Beam. Veteran of D-Day and Bastogne. At age 82, I got him to join the Disabled Parking Enforcement Unit at the PD, after he came in to dispute the findings on an accident report. I also Supervised other WW2 Vets in the Unit. Bob was with the 4th Inf Div and lande on Utah Beach. 7 days later he was wounded in the hedgerows, awarded the Bronze Star and 2 Purple Hearts. Bob would later find himself in Bastogne for the battle of the bulge. Bob lives in Fremont Ca and on my last visit, I bought him a pump action nerf gun to exercise his arm following a stroke. I almost got into big trouble in 2006, when Chris Banda and I snuck Bob out of a Convalescent hospital after his first Stroke during Thanksgiving. They called my employer and complained. It was the most excitement Bob had since WW2.
