Sam here again. These are my thoughts inspired by a comment from a guy named Michael Brubaker: Back when Jason was our vocalist, Michael, disheartened by the abundance of carbon copied-sounding bands out there in the metal world, gave us a shot and went to a show. He kept his mind open, which I believe is one of the most kick-ass and valuable things you can do with your time on this earth. This genre is growing and evolving so quickly, and so many people are gravitating toward playing heavier styles of music. With that many people out there trying their hands at it, you never know when you might attend some small show in some microscopic town and discover a few guys making some brilliantly creative tunes :) Why not always keep an eye and ear out? Im always on the lookout for that. Despite the droves of homogenous cookie cutter sounding bands out there today, modern metal and its related genres also currently host some of the finest and most sophisticated modern music and musicians to date. Our genre is finally far removed from spandex, and thankfully is steadily becoming less anchored in endless chugging repetition. Alas, precision, progressiveness and true musicality is working its way to the forefront. I couldnt be happier, and thanks to the Internet, its all right there at your finer tips if you choose to seek it out. So go ahead, go to a local show in your town! Or even go see one of the incredible national metal acts whore out on the road touring the US and the world. Do anything, just get involved. You may not have realized it but this is an exciting time to be alive :)
