Samoan Rugby has serious issues to address, and despite a threatened boycott of todays game (dropped in part because of the threat from WR, formerly IRB, to expel them from the 2015 world cup, and a cancellation of next years All Blacks tour to Samoa) they took to the field despite feeling that they are being exploited by their own union. In David Lemis words 30 players will take to the field today and give it their all, for their country, and their team mates, 15 will be paid fairly, 15 wont, is that right? Samoan rugby is under funded, and the funds that are there seem to be being diverted away from the players and infrastructure where it is needed most. Ex Samoan international Eliota Fuimaono-Sapolu, If 20% of the gate money from todays game went to the Samoan Rugby Union, it would fund rugby there for 2 or 3 years Samoa, despite being a comparatively small country, is a massive contributor to the International rugby community, we need Samoa to remain part of our beautiful game.
