Samuel Ajayi posted: MY STATE, OH MY STATE... Reports have it that Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital, is boiling over the gruesome killing of Aderiye Omolafe, a former NURTW boss and a staunch Fayose supporter, yesterday. It all started with the storming of the state high court, earlier this week and yesterday, by PDP faithfuls over the case meant to prevent Fayose from being sworn-in on the grounds that he was not qualified to contest in the first place. Fayose was said to have allegedly slapped the judge (an allegation that has been found out to be untrue) but the judge was reportedly man-handled by suspected thugs loyal to Fayose. When things happened like this, what I usually do is to place calls to people of different political backgrounds. One of those I spoke to was an APC faithful who ADMITTED that they never thought Fayose would pick the PDP ticket talk less of winning the election. He told me, in confidence, that the plan, involving a top lawyer from the state and a SAN (names withheld), is to ensure that Fayose is not sworn-in using the courts. In all truthfulness, this is what the guy told me and of course, a ruling party in any state will always get a pliable judge to do the rest. In a dangerous twist, however, Omolafe was killed yesterday. No matter how violent Fayose is, he could not have killed his own henchman. Or someone wants to tell me he could do that to discredit the APC? Now, since Fayemi could not continue beyond October 16 in case Fayose is not sworn-in, an APC Speaker of the House will be sworn-in as governor and election held after three months where APC will now present a stronger front to hopefully win the election. This is all the grand plot. Yet, no one is seeing the larger but dangerous picture except that Fayose is a thug, Fayose is a rogue. Cant the APC accept defeat and lets move on. Lets admit that my people made the wrong choice, cant they be allowed to leave with the unfortunate consequences? Why throwing the state into chaos simply because a party of democrats cannot swallow the bitter pill that it lost an election? Like I have said many times, I prefer Fayemi to Fayose any day but if the people thought otherwise, who am I? Those fanning embers of discord in Ekiti should know that the fire they set on will consume them...in Jesus name!
