Sanjay Dutt finds it tough to make paper bags :) Actor Sanjay Dutt, who is lodged in Yerawada jail, has not been able to make a single paper bag in the last 40 days. Dutt surrendered on May 16 to serve his rest of the 42-month sentence after his conviction in the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts case. He has been assigned to make paper bags but the jail officials said he was a slow learner. Since making paper bags is considered easy, the jail officials were hopeful that the actor would learn the skill soon. But, they added that the actor is finding it difficult to give finishing touch to the bags. The top brass of Yerawada jail has deputed a special officer to train Dutt. Once he starts making paper bags on his own, the actor will be paid Rs25 to Rs40 a day for his work. “We have appointed an officer to train Dutt in making paper bags. The actor is learning but has not been able to make even a single bag till now. We hope he will learn the skill soon,” said Yogesh Desai, Yerawada Central Prison superintendent. The jail officials said they had initially decided to assign Dutt to work in the jail kitchen. However, the work was changed in view of his security. For the same reason, Dutt is not being made go to paper making factory. Instead, he is allowed to work in his barrack. “Dutt will do the paper-binding and file-making work for 46 months. If his behaviour is found to be good during this period, his sentence might be remitted,” said a jail officer, requesting anonymity. No home-cooked food Yerawada jail authorities say actor Sanjay Dutt has not been getting home-cooked food for the last couple of days. Soon after Dutt was brought to Yerawada jail, the jail authorities had moved the designated Tada court against allowing home food for him, saying the prison manual does not have provision for it.
