Sankranti celebration - K. C. Das style Bangalore has been a lucky city to have had its totally- self-effacing-yet-most-life-celebrating resident in Biren Das of K. C. Das, for decades. Equally lucky, my husband Ranjon and myself, have travelled with him in his sunshine journey for the last 36 years, dazed at the many inspiring colours he chose to fill it with. Yesterday, like every year, Team K. C. Das, led by him,celebrated Sankranti. We were witness to yet another spectacle of grace and magnificence in the backdrop of scintillating music by Anupama Bhagwat on the sitar and Ravindra Yavagal on the tabla. The experience entranced the audience who were treated to delicious Bengali Sankranti dinner featuring green peas kochuri, chholar daal, tawrkari,etc., with a barrage of pitthay-payesh that only Birenda can whip up at such a large scale. Wonder what is Birendas plan ? Sponsoring cultural experiences to nourish society continuously, never letting go. He will keep going at it, swimming strongly against the tide, how much ever the world around may get ridden with strife everyday.
