We dont get out very often (!) so its great to get the chance to stare at ancient Egyptian pieces instead of photos of them! Were working on the Xmas edition of the magazine at the moment. Im having fun trying to source illustrations for Joyce Tyldesleys article on Pyramid Queens - the earlier dynasties can be a big problem when it comes to finding good photographs! Engineer John Kaufmann has been applying his technical skills to bringing ancient Egypt to life, pioneering the 3D printing of artifacts at Kendal Museum in Cumbria. Also coming up: Sofia Aziz investigates what happened to the brain and heart during mummification Wolfram Grajetzki describes some of the fantastic jewellery found in Middle Kingdom burials of women We havent decided on the cover yet - will let you know nearer the time what to look out for. AE87 is due out in early December.
