Sarah Khalid QUEEN D ENT. Queen D Ent. Change your thoughts to change your life =BALANCE The Ego your worst enemy ! Our egos are our individual expression in this world. It is our egos that give each of us our uniqueness. Now, granted; an unchecked, immature and mismanaged or un-mastered ego is an ugly thing. But so is the spiritually shallow fallacy that we must eradicate our egos. Many times someone who says they have eradicated their ego is usually only relating that theyre neglecting it, that they have blinded themselves to the egos machinations. Many times those are the very people whose egos are the most out of control or either theyre co-dependent doormats. A healthy sense of ego sets healthy boundaries, an unhealthy, neglected ego has no boundaries and usually disrespects the healthy aspects of boundaries for themselves and others. The core purpose of the ego is protector of the self, it is like the skin of our being in this world. The major problem with ego involvement is becoming solely fixated on ego stimulus. Much like people who are only cognizant of surface looks and appearances. People who have become shallow and critical of themselves and others simply based on their appearance. Becoming too enraptured by the surface appearance of a thing, to overlook the deeper experience of a thing is egoic. The spiritually shallow among us who boast that they have done away with their ego are the most ego controlled people there are. It is the height of egotism to think that one has demolished their ego. If you have a personality, you have an ego, if you identify with or as anything, then you have an ego, if you prefer something over another then thats ego. All of our relationships with one another are on some level ego based...hell if you differentiate yourself from others that is definitely ego. To boast that youve done away with your ego is egotist, because youre putting yourself above others, youre in essence judging others for their egos. Many surface spiritual folks equate ego with illusion. Well, illusions have substance, illusions contain experiences. Illusions are subjective to the beholder. Illusions are energetic at their core, just as we are. Many times we get lost in trying to figure out the validity of a thing, whether its tangible or an illusion; when the most important factor is; what was your experience of the thing, what was illuminated in you? Whether it was real or an illusion is secondary to where the experience took you within yourself. The experience is ALWAYS REAL! So, how do we master our egos? The first step is to acknowledge your egos validity. Next let your ego know that it has a watcher, an inner observer, a presence that is One with all. That this watcher is non-judgmental yet correcting, modifying and always at peace. Our greatest power is that of observation, an ego that knows its being observed in you will reach higher in its relationships with others and its environment. Your ego will begin to mature under the guidance of your inner watcher. It will see less danger and more harmony. Meditation familiarizes your ego with your inner watcher. It allows your ego to gaze upon silent nothingness where everything exists. You will begin to see into the substance of everything, past surface appearance. Youll care less about whats illusory and whats real. You will savor the experience regardless of a things corporeal substance, you will see past simple sight and develop true vision. I thank you for taking the time to read what felt like a ramble...I publish this ramble anyway because I have the feeling someone will benefit...will decide to gaze into the silent abyss of their being and let their ego run free in the space where all substance springs from. To quote a close friend of mine regarding our egos- Integrate, dont try to annihilate. One Love
