Saroori met with Chief Engineer BEACON Chatroo-Singhpora tunnel will give job opportunities to the local unemployed youths of the Kishtwar District: CE Beacon Sharma AJAZ. RISHU. SRINAGAR, JUL 11. Former R&B Minister and MLA Inderwal Ghulam Mohammad Saroori, today met Chief Engineer, BEACON, Brig R K Sharma, to discuss issues pertaining to immediate repair of Kishtwar- Sinthan highway. Saroori asked the Chief Engineer to immediatelytake up repair and patchwork required at several places along the Highway. He also asked BEACON to regularly maintain the road and remove potholes on an urgent basis beside promise made by CO 118RCC GREF Kishtwar to 1100 laborers of Kishtwar who were working on Kishtwar-Sinthan road that at least 15 days job in a month. He also asked Sharma to immediate surfacing and pre-mixing of Kandni-Kishtwar road and remaining 18 KM long stretch of Kihstwar-Sinthan roads that connects Islamabad (Anantnag) district with Kishtwar. Saroori asked the status of Chatroo-Singhpora Vailoo tunnel which will connect Kashmir Valley with district Kishtwar and bring in circular connectivity between Kashmir and Jammu divisions beside he stressed for construction of Passenger shed at Sinthan Maidan. Chief Engineer BEACON informed Saroori that Chatroo-Singhpora-Viloo tunnel is of prime importance both from defence purpose as well as from road connective purpose. Sharma said Hon’ble Prime Minister of India Dr Manmohan Singh has sanctioned 10no tunnels in the country which include Chatroo-Singhpora-Vailoo tunnel and which finds mentionin the President address in the parliament this year. He apprised Saroori that he is in direct contact with Ministry of Transport and that the project of construction of Singhpora-Viloo tunnel is in advance stage. He said that the organization has already taken up the matter with defense ministry government of India for providing funds for preparation of final DPR of the said tunnel. Hesaid that as soon as the organization will receive funds for preparation of DPR, the organization will invite the tenders forthe same from reputed companies. He said that he is hopeful that all the formalities will be cleared by the end December 2013. He said that the construction of this tunnel will not only provide alternative road connectivity to valley, but will also give job opportunities to the local unemployed youths of the Kishtwar District. Sharma also said that earlier we had shortage of funds that’s why we disengaged 1100 labourers but now Centre government has sanctioned funds for Kishtwar-Sinthan road and informed Saroori that labourers had started working on the road and they will get money of 15 days job in a month. He informed that GREF officials had engaged labourers for speed up the execution of construction work on Kishtwar-Sinthan road stretch connecting Kishtwar district with valley.
