Saturday, February 1, 2014 STUDY SESSION: Proverbs 1:7 King James Version (KJV) 7 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction. Proverbs 9:10 King James Version (KJV) 10 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding. The LORD Jesus said: John 10:10 King James Version (KJV) 10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. To establish a relationship of faith, trust, devotion, and love with the ONE TRUE God of Life, Yahweh, is how one can have life abundantly through worship. It is impossible to live in the Spirit AND in Truth, and NOT worship. John 14:6 King James Version (KJV) 6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. ITs impossible to be the LIFE, and the RESURRECTION, and NOT be immortal... Jesus was not an angel made manifest. He SAVES, therefore having the greatest attribute/characterization that clearly lets us know that Jesus is LORD who ALONE is Savior: Acts 16:31 King James Version (KJV) 31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house. Isaiah 43:11 King James Version (KJV) 11 I, even I, am the Lord; and beside me there is no saviour. Jude 1:25 King James Version (KJV) 25 To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen. JOhn the BAptist who recognized Jesus of Nazareth to be the Messiah while he himself was yet in the womb, revealed to us that Christ is the physical manifestation of the Word of God: John 1 King James Version (KJV) 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 The same was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. 4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men. 5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not. 6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. 7 The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe. 8 He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light. 9 That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world. 10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. 11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not. 12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: 13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. 14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. 15 John bare witness of him, and cried, saying, This was he of whom I spake, He that cometh after me is preferred before me: for he was before me. 16 And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace. 17 For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ. 18 No man hath seen God at any time, the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him. 19 And this is the record of John, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, Who art thou? 20 And he confessed, and denied not; but confessed, I am not the Christ. 21 And they asked him, What then? Art thou Elias? And he saith, I am not. Art thou that prophet? And he answered, No. 22 Then said they unto him, Who art thou? that we may give an answer to them that sent us. What sayest thou of thyself? 23 He said, I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make straight the way of the Lord, as said the prophet Esaias. JOhn made the way clear for JESUS OF NAZARETH, so it is safe to assume that on a level of deep understanding, John recognized Christ to be the promised Messiah, the incarnation of the Lord, God the Son in the form of flesh: John 1 continued... 24 And they which were sent were of the Pharisees. 25 And they asked him, and said unto him, Why baptizest thou then, if thou be not that Christ, nor Elias, neither that prophet? 26 John answered them, saying, I baptize with water: but there standeth one among you, whom ye know not; 27 He it is, who coming after me is preferred before me, whose shoes latchet I am not worthy to unloose. 28 These things were done in Bethabara beyond Jordan, where John was baptizing. 29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world. 30 This is he of whom I said, After me cometh a man which is preferred before me: for he was before me. 31 And I knew him not: but that he should be made manifest to Israel, therefore am I come baptizing with water. 32 And John bare record, saying, I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him. 33 And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost. 34 And I saw, and bare record that this is the Son of God. 35 Again the next day after John stood, and two of his disciples; 36 And looking upon Jesus as he walked, he saith, Behold the Lamb of God! 37 And the two disciples heard him speak, and they followed Jesus. JESUS of Nazareth is the resurrected incarnation of the Lord our God, the very Word of God in flesh, sent to die for the redemption of man, and when the Lord returns, it will not be in the form of Isa, or the flesh of man period: The following is from, lamblion/articles/articles_second1.php, and the website also lists good references from the Old Testament to back up the fact that Jesus will return in His full glory; briefly witnessed during the transformation on the mountain: I believe Jesus is returning to reign over the earth because the New Testament prophets say so. 1) Peter •Acts 3:21 — In his sermon on the portico of Solomon, Peter says Jesus must remain in Heaven until the period of the restoration of all things about which God spoke by the mouth of His holy prophets from ancient time. The period of restoration spoken of here will occur during the Millennium when the curse is partially lifted and nature is restored (Romans 8:18-23). 2) Paul •2 Thessalonians 1:7-10 — Paul says that when Jesus returns dealing out retribution to those who do not know God and to those who do not obey the gospel, He will also come for the purpose of being glorified before His saints. The return of Jesus to be glorified before His saints and all the nations of the world is one of the persistent themes of Old Testament prophecy (Isaiah 24:23, Isaiah 52:10,13, Isaiah 61:3, and Psalm 46:10). •2 Timothy 2:12 — Paul says if we endure, we shall also reign with Him. 3) John •Revelation 12:5 — John sees a vision in which a sun clothed woman (Israel) gives birth to a male child (Jesus) who is to rule all the nations with a rod of iron. •Revelation 19:15-16 — In his description of Jesus returning to earth, John says He bears the title, King of kings and Lord of lords, and John says He will rule the nations with a rod of iron. •Revelation 20:4,6 — John says that after the return of Jesus to the earth, He will reign with His saints (those to whom judgment has been given) for a thousand years. I believe Jesus is returning to earth to reign because the Heavenly Host say so. 1) Gabriel •Luke 1:26-38 — When the archangel Gabriel appeared to Mary, he told her that she would bear a son named Jesus who would be called the Son of the Most High. He then added three promises that are yet to be fulfilled: the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David; and He will reign over the house of Jacob forever; and His kingdom will have no end. 2) The Four Living Creatures and the 24 Elders •Revelation 5:9-10 — When John is raptured to Heaven and finds himself standing before the throne of God (Revelation 4), he hears the four living creatures (special angelic creatures called seraphim in Isaiah 6) and the twenty-four elders (probably representative of the redeemed) singing a song of praise to Jesus. In this song they say that Jesus is a Worthy Lamb who has made His redeemed a kingdom, and they will reign upon the earth. 3) The Angels of God •Revelation 11:15 — Voices from Heaven make a proleptic proclamation in the midst of the Tribulation: The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord, and of His Christ; and He will reign forever and ever. (Note: A proleptic statement is one that speaks of a future event as if it has already occurred. This is a common form of expression in prophecy because all future events are settled in the mind of God as if they had already happened in history.) 4) The Tribulation Martyrs •Revelation 15:3-4 — At the end of the Tribulation, right before the final pouring out of Gods wrath in the form of the bowl judgments, all the Tribulation martyrs who are in Heaven join together in singing the song of Moses... and the song of the Lamb. In that song, they declare the Lamb (Jesus) to be the King of the nations, and they proclaim that all the nations will come and worship before Thee. I believe Jesus is returning to reign on the earth because Jesus said so. •Matthew 19:28 — Jesus said that during the regeneration (the same time as the period of restoration referred to by Peter in Acts 3:21), He will sit on His glorious throne, and the Apostles will join Him in judging the twelve tribes of Israel. •Matthew 25:31 — Jesus said that when He returns in glory, the Son of Man... will sit on His glorious throne. And all the nations will be gathered before Him for judgment. The throne of Jesus is the throne of David which has always been located in only one place — in Jerusalem (see Isaiah 9:6-7 and Psalm 122). •Acts 1:3-6 — Luke says that Jesus spent 40 days teaching His disciples about the kingdom of God. Then, as He was ready to ascend into Heaven, one of the disciples asked, Lord is it at this time You are restoring the kingdom to Israel? The question indicates that Jesus taught a time would come when the kingdom would be restored to Israel. Jesus response to the question indicated the same thing. He did not rebuke the question. Rather, He simply said it was not for them to know the times and seasons when the kingdom would be restored to Israel. •Revelation 2:26-27 — Jesus says that He has a special reward for any overcomer who keeps His deeds until the end: To him I will give authority over the nations; and he shall rule them with a rod of iron. •Revelation 3:21 — Jesus makes it clear that the overcomers will reign jointly with Him: He who overcomes, I will grant to him to sit down with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne. Again, the throne of Jesus is the throne of David (Luke 1:32 and Revelation 3:7). The throne of David is in Jerusalem, not in Heaven (Psalm 122). Jesus currently shares His Fathers throne. He is not sitting on His own throne and will not do so until He returns to this earth. Then He will allow the redeemed to share His throne with Him. The following is from: biblebelievers/jmelton/second.html In this tract, we will attempt to show you from Gods word the chronological order of future prophetic events. That is, we will attempt to TEACH you some basic Bible doctrine about the Second Coming. It is our prayer that you will read carefully through these pages, asking the Holy Spirit of God to lead and guide you through the truths in His word (Jhn. 16:13). Please check all Scripture references very carefully for a better understanding. May God richly bless your study. The Coming Righteous Kingdom The main theme of the Bible is the Lord Jesus Christ, and the main subject is the Kingdom that His Father has promised Him. There are many Bible prophecies that speak of this coming King and Kingdom. Some are as follows: The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come; and unto him shall the gathering of the people be. (Gen. 49:10) Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing? The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying, Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us. He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision. Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure. Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion. I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee. Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession. (Psa. 2:1-8) And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots: And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD; And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the LORD: and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears: But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked. And righteousness shall be the girdle of his loins, and faithfulness the girdle of his reins. The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them. (Isa. 11:1-6) Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will raise unto David a righteous Branch, and a King shall reign and prosper, and shall execute judgment and justice in the earth. (Jer. 23:5) Such Old Testament verses as these state very clearly that God intends to set the Lord Jesus Christ up as King over the earth. There have been many kings to rise and fall throughout history, but God has in mind a PERFECT King for His promised Kingdom. Coming to the New Testament we find that God still has this Kingdom very much in mind. In Luke chapter one, verses thirty-one through thirty-three, the angel says to Mary: And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS. He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David: And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end. John the Baptist came preaching that this Kingdom was at hand in Matthew 3:2, and Jesus also preached this message when He began to preach (Mat. 4:17). During the actual ministry of Christ, He preached mostly to His people, the Jews (Mat. 10:5-6; 15:24), because Israel is the one nation that God chose long ago to be a shining light to this lost and dying world. In Isaiah 62:1 God says, For Zions sake will I not hold my peace, and for Jerusalems sake I will not rest, until the righteousness thereof go forth as brightness, and the salvation thereof as a lamp that burneth. God will not rest until His chosen nation is established in the earth as a BURNING LAMP (Gen. 15:17) to this lost and dying world. Starting with Abraham in Genesis chapter twelve, God begins to focus on ONE CHOSEN PEOPLE to bring forth His King for the coming Kingdom. All of the promises that God made to Abraham and his descendants are still in effect today, and they will soon reach their fulfillment, for the Kingdom WILL come. Many teach that the Kingdom promises are no longer valid, because the Jews rejected Christ, but this is a false teaching. In Acts 1:6-7, before Jesus ascended into Heaven, the apostles asked Him about this Kingdom, saying, . . . Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel? If the Kingdom promises were no longer valid, then Jesus would have told them so, but instead He says, ...It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power. So Israels rejection of Christ doesnt make void the promises of God. God will chastise the Jews for their sin, and then He will restore the Kingdom to Israel (Psa. 89:29-36). Someone says, If the Jews wont receive their King, then how can God restore the Kingdom? Doesnt this put God in some sort of a jam? No, God has a master plan. He knows exactly what He will do. In Hebrews 8:8-10, we read some interesting words quoted from Jeremiah chapter 31: For finding fault with them, he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah: Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they continued not in my covenant, and I regarded them not, saith the Lord. For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people: The words after those days clearly refer to a future time when Israel will be converted to the Lord Jesus Christ. Paul tells us in Romans 11:25-27 that Israel has been BLINDED for this present age, but that all Israel shall be saved because God will take away their sins. God promised Israel a Kingdom, so there WILL be a Kingdom. Since this Kingdom wasnt established at the First Coming of Christ, it must be established at the Second Coming. God knew that the Jews would reject His Son; so He predetermined that Christs shed Blood on Calvary would serve as an atonement for the sin of the world. This was Gods plan all along--to come into the world and pay for the sins of all men (Jhn. 1:29; Rev. 13:8). So the First Coming was one of suffering and shame, but the Second Coming will be one of glory, honor, and praise (1 Pet. 1:10-12). The first time Jesus received a crown of thorns, but when He comes again He will have MANY crowns (Rev. 19:12). He was the lamb of God when He came the first time, but He will be the lion of the tribe of Judah the second time (Rev. 5:5). The First Coming gave Jesus Christ to the world, but the Second Coming will give the world to Jesus Christ! Just as David was chosen to be the king of Israel many years before he actually received the kingdom (1 Sam. 16), the Lord Jesus Christ has been chosen to take over the kingdoms of this world and rule as Gods KING OF KINGS (Rev. 11:15; 19:16). A Christianity without a Second Coming is a very selfish religion, for it robs Jesus Christ of all Gods precious promises to Him. The teaching and preaching of the Second Coming is very essential, because it speaks of Gods righteous King returning to this earth and taking what rightfully belongs to Him. Christians should be rejoicing! The Lord Jesus Christ, the Captain of your Salvation (if youre saved), will soon return to this earth and set things in order and YOU can be on the winning side! ___________________________________________________________________________________________________ Are you expecting that the Truth will keep His promise and return? Romans 10:8-15 8 But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; 9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. 12 For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. 13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. 14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? 15 And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!
