Saturday, July 26th Full Results Article by Rob Keller Spahr/Layton/Dice win Micros at Path Valley Six divisions of racing were on the card for Saturday night, including three different Micro Sprint divisions and three stock car classes. There was plenty of action on the track, and unfortunately there was some in the pit area also. Eighteen drivers signed in for the 600cc Micro Sprints, making it the largest field for the night. Brad Weber started first, but lost the lead on the first lap to Jim Young, who started third. Arron Spahr started fifth, but was already up to second by lap three. The red flag came out on lap six when Len Ozio spun in turn four. Tanner Hunsicker made heavy contact with Ozio and Buddy Hines clipped a tire which sent him on a rollover. All three drivers reported to be okay. When the race resumed, Spahr began to put pressure on Young for the lead. Young was running the high groove in turns one and two while Spahr ran the bottom. Spahr finally completed the pass on lap eleven. That move turned out to be the winning pass as Spahr led the final ten laps to secure the win. Young finished second, followed by Tyler Walton, Travis Scott, and Garrett Bard. Heat race wins went to Scott and Walton. The Street Stock feature unfortunately had almost as much action off the track as on. Ryan Sager started second and led the first two laps until surrendering the top spot to Greg Moore on lap three. Moore was unchallenged the remaining laps, capturing his third win in a row. During the second of four caution periods a fight broke out between two teams that were involved in the incident and the race was red-flagged until the situation was resolved. Second thru fifth went to Sager, Cris Edwards, Tom Wakefield, and Ken Singer. Moore and Brad McGinnis collected heat race wins. The ACMS Stock 600cc Micro Sprints were next. Gunnar Layton got a new chassis this season, and lately it has been very much to his liking. Layton started second and took the lead on the first lap. Three cautions in the first six laps kept the field close. After the final restart on lap six, Layton dominated the field, pulling away to a half lap lead in just six laps. Layton cruised to the easy win to give him two in a row at Path Valley. Drew Ritchey finished second, Jesse Howell third, Tom Whittall fourth, and Justin Whittall fifth. Layton and Logan Jones won the heat races. The 4-Cylinder Thunder Cars took to the speedway and Joe Walker set the early pace, starting first and getting the lead on lap one. Walkers lead only lasted three laps because he spun out by himself in turn four on lap four. Jeremy Moore inherited the lead at that point, but his turn at the front also only last two laps, losing the lead to Tony Hampton on lap six. Charlie Stallman spun out on lap eight, but worked his way back through the eight-car field to be in second when the last of six cautions came out on lap seventeen. On lap eighteen Stallman got his nose to the inside of Hampton and the two leaders ran side-by-side for the final three laps. Coming off the final turn they were virtually tied and Stallman won the drag race to the finish line, leading by the length of his fender. Joe Walker finished third, but was disqualified for having an aluminum flywheel. That moved Brandon Seibert to third, Tyler Kirby fourth, and Jeremy Moore fifth. The heat race was won by Hampton. Barry Welch went from third to first on the first lap of the Mini Stock feature, but was followed closely by Dillon Wilson who started fourth. Welch used the momentum of the high groove to set the pace while Dillon worked the bottom of the corners as he looked to take the lead. Wilsons persistence finally paid off when he passed Welch exiting turn four on lap fourteen. A caution on the final lap made for a one lap shootout. Wilson was up to the challenge, pulling away by a few car lengths to secure the win. David Bookwalter drove his Chevette to his best finish of the year, passing Welch on the last lap to finish second. Justin Bucher finished fourth and Lyle Barnes fifth. Wilson also won the heat race. The night cap was the 270cc Micro Sprints. Colby Dice won his heat race and started on the pole for the feature. On the start Cory Myers got the jump from the third place starting position and led lap one. Dice fought right back, regaining the lead on lap two. Dice pulled away by a few car lengths until Josh Stoyer took second from Myers on lap five. Lap after lap Stoyer inched his way closer to Dice until he was only a car length behind. But the two leaders then caught the back of the field and began to put other racers a lap down. Depending on where they caught up to each car, the lead would grow or diminish, but Dice always stayed ahead. On the final lap Dice had a three car length advantage, but ran up on a slower car entering the final two turns. Dice slowed to avoid contact giving Stoyer one last chance. Stoyer drove hard thru the final two turns, but could only get to Dices back bumper as they crossed the finish line. Myers finished in third, followed by Jason Houtz and Mason Peters. Houtz won the other heat race.
