Saturday Movie Matinee: Invaders From Mars (Full Film) I remember this movie scared the shit out of me when I first saw it. A little boy sees something fall behind the trees in his backyard, his parents go to investigate, and the next thing you know, there’s all this ominous music and mom and dad are acting strange. Director William Cameron Menzies was an art director for most of his career (he was born in 1896), and that visual talent shows in some of the sets used in the film (particularly the rickety wooden fence leading up the grassy rise to the sand pit, where the Martians have burrowed their ship underground.)
