Saturday, we attended the 110th anniversary of Fugetsu-Do, the oldest Japanese confectionery shop in Los Angeles. We were invited guests of Brian Kito, third generation current owner. My mother worked there in 1942 for 16 years and is one of the two oldest surviving employees. She was honored on stage before the performance we saw. There was a reception later that day where they served, of course, mochi from Fugetsu-Do and green tea! Mom had the time of her life!
