Saturdays SEVERE WEATHER OUTLOOK RISK has no organized areas of Severe Weather expected anywhere across the Nation. However, a few thunderstorms will be possible across Arizona and into New Mexico for this afternoon and through the evening. Scattered storm development will also be expected, overnight, across Western Texas where the strongest storms could produce possible small hail and gusty winds to 50 mph. Saturdays NATIONAL WEATHER SUMMARY ANALYSIS By Forecaster David Saurer The storm system that cause havoc across most of the West Coast in the last 48 hours has now spread Eastward. Widespread rain showers is expected with the associated cold front continuing to sweep Eastward through the Intermountain West and Rockies for today. Precipitation totals will be among the highest along the terrain and falling temperatures are expected as well giving the snow levels dropping lower behind the frontal boundary with moderate snowfall likely. This cold front will also be continuing the sweep Eastward through Sunday as well. Along the northern portions of the boundary, a surface shortwave across the Dakotas to Northern Minnesota will bring some light rain showers to the Upper MS Valley. As you head South of the boundary, a piece of energy aloft will help intensify a surface low pressure center in the leeward side of the Colorado Rockies. This surface low is expected to track a steady pace into the Mid MS Valley for Sunday and into Monday. There is a stream of Gulf moisture that will interact with the deepening system, therefore will fuel for some heavy precipitation across the Southern Plains with strong to severe thunderstorms possible for tomorrow afternoon, especially in Central and South Central Texas (Dallas-Fort Worth, Austin, and San Antonio). Some storms could reach strong to severe in Oklahoma as well, but not as likely as Texas. Snow and ice is possible across the Central Plains into the Upper MS Valley. Out in the West, after some record breaking rainfall in California, we will see a break in the precipitation, however, the next in a series of Pacific storm systems will begin to impact, once again, by early in the day on Monday. A closed low spinning over the Northeast will finally begin to taper off into the Atlantic and will begin to see a diminishing threat of light snow showers for Northern New England.
