Saturdays presidential election in Afghanistan comes at a crucial time in that countrys history. Despite what you read, hear and see in much of the worlds media, particularly here in the States, remarkable progress has been made in nearly all areas in Afghanistan since the overthrow of the Taliban regime. Millions of brave Afghan men and women will go to the polls even though the Taliban will try their best to disrupt them. I am confident that the progress of recent years in Afghanistan will not only continue, but accelerate. I wish my Afghan friends, wherever they are the world, all the best on this important day.
