Saturday’s event commemorated the arrival in Mexico City on Dec. 6, 1914, of Villa’s Division of the North and Zapata’s Liberation Army of the South. The cavalcade started at the National Auditorium on the Paseo de la Reforma and ended at the Monument to the Revolution because police prevented the riders from continuing on to the Zocalo, Mexico City’s main plaza. The 2014 National Villa Zapata Centennial Cavalcade was organized by different groups, including those representing descendants of revolutionaries.
