Sauk City top ten of the year according to the Sauk City Star. I am humbled to have made the top ten. Thank you Gene Unger and the Ferry Bluff Eagle Council for making this happen. 6. Eagle mural flies again In a community that has seen its bald eagle population soar in the last 20 years, it seemed fitting that the 100-foot wide, 40-foot tall eagle mural on the back of the Luck Antique Mall building at the corner of Water Street and Highway 60 in Prairie du Sac was brought back to life and to its original luster. In a cooperative effort by original designer and artist Michael Conners, now of Plain, Sauk Prairie artist Michael Habada and the Ferry Bluff Eagle Council, the mural was re-painted, and as visible and vivid from the Highway 60 bridge as it was nearly 40 years ago. But the paint was barely dry, when less than a week later, vandals had tagged the mural with words, expletives, names and images. Habada went right back to it and painted over the tagging the same day the graffiti was discovered. Shortly after that, Ralph Luck spent about $5,000 in lighting and electrical work to help add security measures to the back of his building. While the violators were not found, the graffiti has not returned.
