Say hello to Eve, our stunning miniature donkey born on Christmas Eve. She inherited her dark colors from Sparky, her daddy. She is one big fluff ball and has learned to love to be scratched and petted. A farmers best friends in winter are insulated coveralls and fleece lined work pants. In fact its difficult to get them laundered because we wear them every day. How else do we winterize for outdoor work? Lots and lots of layers: multiple pairs of socks, shirts, hooded sweatshirts, coats, scarfs, multiple hats, waterproof gloves. Today I even added a vest under my coat. I guess youd say we dont dress for looks. The only downside to this style is when you have to make an unplanned trip to town: to change clothes or not to change? We must be doing something right because we have no heat lamps going right now. Our chickens are fully feathered and the piglets are staying warm. Market News: due to the cold well be at the market for just one hour again, 2pm to 3pm.
