Scenarios abound. Did the plane disintegrate at 35,000 feet from a mechanical failure and sudden decompression? Did the pilot commit suicide by flying it straight down into the sea? Did terrorists blow it up? Did a passenger plant a bomb so that his family would collect life insurance? Was the plane shot down by a jumpy military? Could it have crash-landed in a jungle somewhere, where the passengers are now fighting to survive? The terrorism theory is fading quickly. The plane turned left near Vietnam and headed west towards the Indian Ocean- last radar signature was over a small island near Indonesia. The water is very shallow here so any crash into the water should have caused visible debris by now. A catastrophic depressurization would have killed everyone on board and the plane would keep flying in whatever direction it was going at the time until it ran out of fuel. A dead pilot slumping to the left after turbulence could account for the unannounced turn towards the west. Its also possible the plane landed on a remote airstrip somewhere in the remote Seychelles or crash landed in heavily forested area - if fuel had run out the resulting fire (if any) wouldnt have been noticed.
