Scholarships for Study in the U.S. Dear Colleagues, Applications are now being accepted for the United States-Timor-Leste Scholarship Program (USTL). Funded by the Bureau of Education and Cultural Affairs, U.S. Department of State, USTL provides full scholarships for citizens of Timor-Leste to complete four-year undergraduate degrees in the U.S. The program is administered by American Councils for International Education. USTL provides funding for four years of degree study at an American university or college, travel, housing, meals, books, insurance, and visas. Some applicants may also receive funding for up to one additional year of English-language study in the U.S. before beginning their degree studies. Applicants must be citizens or permanent residents of Timor-Leste who have completed their secondary education or will do so by August 2015, when the program begins. Applicants must have proficient English skills. USTL scholars are placed at carefully vetted, high-quality U.S. colleges and universities that match their academic interests and offer outstanding student support. American Councils staff provide ongoing advising and logistical assistance to participants throughout their time in the U.S. Participants complete a pre-departure orientation at the U.S. Embassy in Dili, and an arrival orientation in Washington, D.C., before beginning their studies. Applications will be accepted until December 1, 2014.
