Screenwriting Tip: We are really Human Wantings (vs. human BEINGS, which is passive, who wants to watch somebody be?). At least the characters in our movies are driven by what they want, and the quickest way to get us into a character is to show us what they want and show them avidly pursue it -- that makes them REAL to us. When youre discussing and developing character, youre USUALLY developing desire line, objective, all of these being, what they WANT. Everything else (how they dress, odd habits) is window-dressing, usually modular, and does not drive story, yes, important too, not AS important. Keep what your characters want to the front of your mind -- great for addressing story logic too.
