Scuba Choice QandA: What are the two most common Nitrox mixes - TopicsExpress

Scuba Choice QandA: What are the two most common Nitrox mixes for SCUBA divers? EAN32 and EAN36. Nitrox is a mixed gas that has larger %s of oxygen then regular air. Regular air is comprised of 21% oxygen, 78% nitrogen and 1% other gases. The numbers following EAN are the oxygen %s of the gas. By increasing the oxygen percentage in the gas, you decrease the amount of nitrogen being absorbed by the body and thus increasing your max bottom time before having to decompress. The negative is that it limits your maximum depth because the oxygen will become toxic sooner. #scuba #diver #oxygen #nitrox #gas #nitrogen
